Reclaiming the South Street Seaport
If the South Street Historic District is to remain the unique place it was intended to be, our elected officials need to hear from us. Let them know that our maritime history and our working waterfront are irreplaceable, that it’s time to rein in any developer who would sacrifice it all for a shopping mall. How? Keep the South Street Seaport Museum in the heart of the District. For a start, why not reconvene the Seaport Working Group?On the Save Our Seaport website you can find the addresses you’ll need. Of course, you can add a few of your own!
SAVE OUR SEAPORT gets HHC Courtesy Rules and Guidelines Rescinded
A few days ago, eagle-eyed SOS steering committee members noticed the sudden posting of a new set of rules that would be enforced by HHC's security force when visiting the Historic South Street Seaport District.
We checked in with Manhattan Community Board One and the Manhattan Borough President who checked in with the NYC Economic Development Corporation, which is the City agency that regulates public land.
