Save Our Seaport forces the Howard Hughes Corporation to “Respect” the Seaport Historic District

New York City Planning Chairman Carl Weisbrod has responded to Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer’s concerns about the Minor Modification Pier 17 Land-Use application in an October 25th letter. This follows a Community Board One resolution that mirrored the concerns of SAVE OUR SEAPORT.

* HHC has now been told by the City that they MUST attend public CB1 meetings charged with monitoring the effects of rooftop events upon the surrounding community and be responsive to their findings.

* HHC has been informed that it is ILLEGAL for their delivery trucks to be directed by their flag men into Beekman Street and the Historic Seaport District. Such incursions will be subject to ticketing by NYCDOT.

* HHC has been reminded that given the centuries old tradition at the site, there is a requirement to bring back a Public Market to the TIN BUILDING that includes locally and regionally sourced food items and that is open to the Public seven days a week that will be enforced by NYCEDC.

SAVE OUR SEAPORT thanks NYC Planning Chairman Carl Weisbrod, MBPO Gale Brewer, and Manhattan CB1 for their help in this matter.
